Top Marks for Yeats College Students
Students at Yeats College Galway were celebrating another year of outstanding Leaving Certificate success. Roscommon student Eamon Gorman was one of two students that achieved a phenomenal 600 points joining the 92 students nationwide who were awarded 6A1’s. A further 21 students achieved an amazing 590 points. In addition, thirty-one students scored 550 points or over.
A record number of students received 7 & 8 A’s in various subjects including the languages, science and practical subjects. The Leaving Cert class of 2011 performed well in Science and Business, which goes against current high failure rates in these subjects.
Yeats College student Lua Rahmani from Galway was delighted with her fantastic result of 590 points. Commenting on her achievement she said: “I’m over the moon with my results. I’m hoping to study Medicine in NUI, Galway. It was a lot of hard work but I wouldn’t change a minute of it”.
Fellow student Claire Hanley was also celebrating a magnificent achievement. Having repeated her Leaving Cert at Yeats College she said: “I wanted to do Veterinary but I didn’t get it last year and came to Yeats College to repeat. I’m delighted with my results and can’t wait to start studying the course I’ve always wanted to do”.
Mature student, Olga Tummon, was also thrilled with her result of 590 points. She repeated her Leaving Certificate at Yeats College in the hope of studying Medicine in NUI, Galway. Speaking about the year, she said: “The year has paid off, I’m ecstatic".
Congratulating students on results day, Principal of Yeats College Terry Fahy commented: “Our students have worked extremely hard throughout the year and I would like to personally congratulate them on their outstanding results. Their hard work and determination has paid off and many are confident of receiving their first choice when the CAO offers are made on Monday”. “I would also like to commend our wonderful, motivational teachers who have guided the students throughout their Leaving Certificate journey” he added.
