Yeats College is Number One Provider of Students to Irish Universities

Galway city school, Yeats College, was last week identified as Ireland’s number one provider of students to Irish Third Level Institutions.

The Schools League table report, published by the Irish Times on November 22nd, ranked Yeats College as Ireland’s highest achieving school sending 100 percent of pupils to third level courses. The report ranked the top fifty Irish schools with fifty pupils or more, with Yeats College coming out on top.

The School League Tables 2011 recorded that a phenomenal 85 percent of Yeats College students took up places on the high point's courses at the seven Irish Universities, teacher training colleges and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI). This figure places Yeats College in fifth place nationally for sending students to the high point’s courses.

Of the 172 Yeats College students who sat the Leaving Certificate in 2011, an impressive 84 students accepted places at NUI, Galway; twenty-one students chose UCD; fourteen students pursued a course of study at Trinity College Dublin; ten students achieved places at University of Limerick; and twelve students went to the teacher training Colleges, St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.

Speaking about the schools performance, Principal Terry Fahy commented: “The 2011 Leaving Certificate results had indicated an excellent overall performance, with one-third of students achieving over 550points. We are delighted that all of our students were rewarded for their hard work and dedication”.

Yeats College is a private co-educational school with state of the art facilities on College road in Galway city. The College was established in 1992 and its sister college, Yeats College Waterford, was founded in 2001. Both schools have grown in popularity due to their reputation for academic excellence.

In conjunction with the full-time courses, Yeats College also offers a number of revision and preparatory courses. The HPAT preparation course takes place on December 10th and 11th of this year; this course is designed to prepare students for the challenges of the compulsory assessment for entry to an Irish Medical School.

Early January will see large numbers of students participate in the annual Christmas Revision Courses which have been successfully delivered by the school since its establishment.
